HAVE AN A+ SUMMER VACATION!!!

Dear Parents and Friends,                                                                  May 24, 2013

It is hard to believe that the end of the school year is here! It seems like we were just getting back from Christmas break, but time flies when you are having fun. And what fun we have had this year. Our students progressed in their academics, we held successful philanthropic efforts, and celebrated sacraments this spring with our second graders. Thank you for a wonderful year of work and play! And as we look back at the various fundraisers held by you, the PTF, we are again grateful for all the support we have received in making our events great successes.

Thanks to everyone who helped host the school picnic last Friday. I don’t think we could have designed a better weather day……the beating sun was not a factor, and it started drizzling at 2:47, right after we boarded the bus to come back to school!

We thank Fr. Jim, Sandy, and all of our teachers for their dedication and hard work this year, as well as our ancillary staff. We wish Mrs. Wombacher the best of luck as she moves on in a new direction, and we welcome back our remaining teachers for the coming year, with Mrs. Lanham assuming the Principal position on July 1.

Keep your kids reading this summer!! Sign them up for the library program, visit the Scholastic website for games and reading tips, and set aside time each week for reading. FACT: Reading four books this summer will save six weeks of review in the fall!

WE DID IT!!!! We collected 13, 239 box tops this school year, exceeding our goal of 13,000 we had set back in September!! Thanks to Rosemary Wesolik for helping us maintain the program, and be sure to keep saving throughout the summer.

Please remember our parish picnic on Saturday, June 15. The committee is hoping to have the help of young people in grades 3 and up to clear tables during the meal. Please contact Jen Milburn to sign your child/ren up to help!

In your folder today:

            Report Cards

Summer calendar of events (on reverse side of this note)

Auction raffle tickets – the more we sell, the more profitable the raffle will be!

            Athletic camp information

We are still looking for an interested person to help with our website! Please call if you know someone or if you can help.

Summer office hours will be Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday, 9am to 3pm, and Fridays, 9am to 12pm. You can always contact Sandy if you cannot reach someone at school. Often times, I could be working in the hall, the basement, or somewhere out of reach of the phone. She can usually find me, so just keep trying!

I have once again enjoyed my year with you. Although school is out, I will continue to prepare for the new school year through the end of June. Please join me in wishing Sarah Lanham the best of luck when she officially assumes leadership on July 1. I know she will do well, with the great support of our families and our parish. In my 24 years of affiliation with St. Agatha’s, I have been a parent (P), and a teacher (T). I will now become a friend (F), and I hope to stay involved in whatever ways fate will allow. Thank you for trusting us with your children, and for choosing St. Agatha School for their education.

Mrs. Newbold
