Havern is an incredibly special place. It is the small, nurturing environment my child needed. He is finally excited to go to school and is sad when he has to miss. He feels like he belongs, and his needs are finally being met. His teachers love him, and he adores them. We feel so lucky to be at Haven!

Havern School is an outstanding school that all children deserve, regardless of learning styles and challenges. Superior teachers, staff, academics, social support, therapy support, Specials classes (called "Essentials"), and after-school programs combine to elevate the educational experience. In addition to utilizing the latest research-based educational and therapy methods, Havern is an inclusive setting that makes our child feels accepted and welcomed by staff and the students. Our child loves attending Havern--learning and making friends! Schools often highlight their low student-to-staff ratio. Haven has a low staff-to-student ratio and, more importantly, a meager student-to-teacher ratio of about five children for each teacher in the classroom. Children get the attention and help they need when they need it! The teachers are caring, professional, and responsive. Pre-test and post-test inform the explicit instruction, which is fun and engaging. Learning is individualized, and kids work at their own pace. All students attend classes to work on social skills (communication, emotional awareness, conflict resolution, etc.), occupational therapy, and speech with their classmates. When carpooling, the kids use rock climbing vocabulary when helping each other with seatbelts, "Can you give me some slack." One of the many value-added benefits at Havern is that children who need it receive additional individualized therapy in small groups of 2-3 students.
Not only does this save parents money and time driving to various appointments and classes after school and on weekends, but the therapists at Havern work with the classroom teachers to integrate lessons seamlessly. At Havern, the Specials classes are called Essentials. Yes, art, technology, and the library are essential! History and culture inform art projects. Graphic design and computer literacy are taught in technology. Library skills and help finding the right book that kids love bringing home to read make library time essential. These teachers are passionate, organized, patient, and positive. Middle school students rotate for their main subjects and have interesting quarterly electives to prepare them for high school. Sewing, yearbook, and yoga/mindfulness are just a few of students' choices. Havern School also supports students outside the school day and accommodates parent schedules. Before and after school times are available for a small additional fee. Older children receive homework help. After-school clubs--from legos to sewing to running--provide extra social time and skill building. The Head of School and Associate Head of School, along with a rotation of other teachers/staff, enthusiastically greet children by name each morning. When it was brought to the attention of the Heads of School that the idling cars at drop off and pick up were a health hazard for children, they immediately posted no idling signs and put reminders in the regular newsletter. The tuition for this school is a bargain, considering the high level of academic education, individual attention, therapy, social skills, professionalism, organization, beautiful campus, safety, student inclusion, and highly trained and caring teachers. It is no wonder some families move cities, states & countries for a Havern education.

She loves knowing other kids with dyslexia, which wasn't discussed at her public school. She's reading more fluently, and she's doing her math homework entirely on her own (first the first time).

My daughter has attended Havern for the last 8 years. She has made great strides and loves going to school, her teachers and the friends she had made. There is nothing like it in Colorado, as they provide a small group learning environment with integrated speech, occupational and social skills therapies. It is a great community and a wonderful environment for kids to learn, gain confidence and necessary life skills. I highly recommend checking it out if your child is struggling in their current school.
