Our experience at Chicago City Day School has been excellent thus far. Each year just gets better and better (5 years to date and counting). My children are happy, enthusiastic learners that love going to school. With a low student/teacher ratio, their personal needs are met. From the hands on learning to the close knit community of parents, the school has met and surpassed all our expectations. It gives us the feeling of a small town environment while living in a big city. We have full confidence that our children will be prepared for high school once they graduate.

Chicago City Day School is a gem that nurtures its students academically and socially to achieve the very best education in the classroom, on the fields and in any endeavors they choose. All children focus on "public speaking" and deliver presentations in a science fair, speeches, and arts performances from K-8 grade. It's all part of the well-crafted, unique and deliberate philosophy of the school. "If You can't stand up and defend your ideas, a great education does not have the value it could." Students are kind to each other and they leave no one out. Lunch tables are changed regularly, and no one is ever faced with having to make a choice about where to sit at lunch and the school strongly encourages all to be invited to birthday parties, etc. The very best part of Chicago City Day School is the community of parents, teachers, and staff that the school fosters. Chicago City Day School is a great environment for children to mature into wonderful young adults. City Day is a traditional school that also allows hands on learning experiences for students both inside and outside of the classroom. I`m an alum, and the experiences I had were great. My favorite memory was a field trip during my 6th grade year for French class to Quebec. I met my pen pal and went around the city speaking French the whole trip. I got to learn some history about Quebec as well. Other than the great experiences, the teachers at the school care and inspire students to achieve success.The children are very welcoming and kind that by the time you graduate, it will feel like a second home.

What a wonderful place to have your child experience their formative years. You must see it to believe it. If you are lucky enough to be looking at private education in the city, this is on the top of my list. It is the most wonderful school full of great teachers, staff, beautiful campus, amazing experiential learning opportunities, and an all-around outstanding education. We are so happy here!
